The Speakers of VIRTUAL CORP 2021 on 15 June
Manfred Schrenk studied spatial planning and regional science at Vienna University of Technology where he extensively worked on urban and transport planning. His fields of specialisation are urban planning and spatial development in information and knowledge society, mobility and transport planning, international urban development, urban, transport and environmental technologies, GIS and planning technologies. He is organiser of the annual international CORP conferences since foundation in 1996. He has been Vice President Events & Treasurer ISOCARP (International Society of City and Regional Planners), board member ÖGR (Austrian Society of Spatial Planning), and Deputy President AGEO (Austrian Umbrella Organisation for Geoinformation). He is currently Chairman of CORP (Competence Center for Urban and Regional Planning), Lecturer at TU Wien, Institute of Spatial Planning, and Researcher at University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Institute of Spatial Planning, Environmental Planning and Land Rearrangement. | Website
Amila Širbegović is an architect and urban researcher. She works, researches and teaches at the interface between urban planning, migration and space production. As part of IBA_Vienna team she manages IBA-candidates projects, mainly focusing on sustainable neighborhood development and climate adaptation projects. In the course of her almost ten years of work at an urban renewal office, she initiated numerous participatory projects in public space. Before that she gained professional experience in various Viennese architectural offices. | Website
Piotr Lorens is an architect and urban planner, full professor, and Head of the Department of Urban Design and Regional Planning at the Faculty of Architecture, Gdansk University of Technology. Since April 2021 Piotr also plays the role of the Gdansk City Architect. His professional interests include urban design and development issues with a special focus on the regeneration of distressed sites. He was involved in the design and development of numerous urban regeneration schemes, including planning for the transformation of the Gdansk waterfront. Piotr is also serving as consultant and expert in numerous planning and development projects, including the governments' appointments. His research and professional issues include also dealing with local identity and heritage within the urban transformation processes, shaping urban public spaces systems as well as dealing with social, economic, and legal aspects of urban transformation. Besides academic and professional appointments, Piotr is also active member of ISOCARP (Vice President YPP Program within years 2011-2017) and Society of Polish Town Planners (within years 2015-2018 – President of the Society, currently – Chairman of the Society Board). In addition, Piotr is a member of ICOMOS and TICCIH, and – regarding scientific bodies and associations – is also involved in the works of various committees of the Polish Academy of Sciences. | Website
